So, instead of sitting around moping I decided to see what I can do with what I got. I went to Radio Shack (yeah, they still exist...barely) and got some de gooping cleaner. Keyboard still doesn't work. I am going to try it every day for a week and see if that changes.
Meanwhile, I tested out my HP with the Windows Movie Maker. I don't know. It worked ok for the 9 second test I did, but it looks a bit pixelated. I don't know if that is really how it looks or if it is the display on this laptop. Here are the results of the test:
