Wow...time marches on and marches quickly. I can't believe it has been 10 years already. So let's do an updatey update.
My name is Eleanor Stokes. I live and play in Beaverton, OR, just west of Portland. My day job is IT. I am a wierdo. I shall just be blunt about it.
My THINGs -
Stop Motion Animation - I love doing stop motion animation. Progress has been slow, due to time and financial constraints. I continue to do it though because I love it, and it incorporates a lot of my hobbies. The highlights are on my Video page. One day it'll be bigger and better.
Musician - I have been doing music my whole life. You would think I would be better at it. I have a degenerative joint disorder which makes it hard to play instruments as I used to. I have had to narrow it down to piano, ukulele, pennywhistle and kinnor/lyre style harp. I also love to sing and participate in bardic arts in the SCA.
SCAdian - I play at historical recreation in the SCA...Society for Creative Anachronism. We recreate the middle ages pre 1700 CE. I don't have a complete persona. I play in the Kingdom of An Tir, the Barony of Dragon's Mist. My SCa name is Eleanor Planpedis. My garb is Tudor, Elizabethan, etc....Whatever I feel like for a particular event. I do mainly fiber arts and bardic arts. I sporadically post about my adventures in that.
Cosplayer- I love to cosplay. I generally create my own characters to cosplay, but I am not averse to trying established characters. The only one I have done so far is the Janitor from Viscera Cleanup Detail. Recently I tried to spruce up my existing cosplays and for some reason 2 whole boxes of my cosplay bits are missing. I intend to try to build those back up. I have bits and pieces that did not get into the boxes. I post this regularly. Whenever I go to a con I get together a few. Now that things are starting to relax a little bit (knock on wood) I will be starting to go to cons again.
Digital Photography - I am very amatuer at this one. I love it, but am not great at it. It does kind of go hand in hand with stop motion animation. I do love taking my camera with me to cons and get pictures of the cosplays. I post my pics to Flickr, under Eleanor Stokes.
Gamer - I love video games and table top games, and RPGs. I play a lot of games. Sometimes I stream to Twitch. I am mainly a PC gamer, though I do have a Switch. I was not allowed to paly video games as a kid, so at the ripe old age of 46 I am learning how to use a controller. I recently also picked up a bluetooth Xbox controller to use with my Ipad Pro wit the Apple Arcade subscriptions games and my PC. I also purchased an Azeron gaming keypad. Look it up...SOOOO cool! I have not had the mental bandwidth to get it programmed yet, but I am impressed with what I have done with it so far. I am left handed, and also have very very short fingers. I was able to adjust it to be comfortable with my hand....mostly. The only thing I cannot adjust is the size and shape of the palm rest, which is too long so my hand does not exactly rest in the right place.
Tip Jar - Yeah, I do have a Donorbox tip jar. It is located in the left hand column on the main blog page. You don't need an account, if you want to donate to the cause.

Ok...so it has been a few years since I started this insanity, so I probably should update it, eh?
My name is Eleanor Stokes. I live and play in Portland, OR. Currently I am unemployed, again, and getting my bachelors degree in software development. I have an odd personality, and that usually pops up in my infrequent blog posts. My goal has been lately to post at least once a week, and for the most part that has happened.
As for me...
I am a blooming stop motion animation artist. I have done some good stuff, some appallingly bad stuff, and I continue to learn and grow as an animator. I cannot draw worth a damn. I love animating. So I animate 3d things. In 2012 I won first place in the Literary Platform's Douglas Adams animation contest. I did a few fan films that have been shown at local cons. Feel free to contact me if you wanna learn with me.
I am also a musician. Not great, but also not too shabby. I have been reticent about this part of my life until recently. I was raised by a professional musician and music teacher. I strive to sound professional, which sometimes hinders me from bringing what I do into the public. My goal for this year is to do this more. If you wanna music with me feel free to contact me.
I am an amateur digital photographer. I have always loved taking pictures. When I was a kid my grandparents got me a disc camera (remember those? Oh god, did I just date myself?) I was always taking pictures of everything, and if I had leftover babysitting money it went towards developing film. I never had a great camera, anything beyond a point n shoot, until recently. In 2007 I bought a Canon A590 Powershot, which gives way more controls than the usual point n shoot, and it opened up a whole new world for me. That is what got me into stop motion animation. I have since graduated to a Canon EOS Rebel T5i. I post stuff here, but I also have a Flickr page here. I am always open to comments and tips to help me photog better. If you wanna go photog with me, feel free to contact me.
I am a gamer. I love love LOVE playing video games, tabletop games, RPG games. From time to time I talk about those, because they are my passion. I have in the past helped outline storylines for experimental games. I may eventually move into that realm, as I loved doing that, but for now I am concentrating on the stuff listed above. Recently I found an online DnD group on Roll20. We play 5e Adventure's League, which is frankly me new fav. If you wanna play with me, I stream cooperative Jackbox games on Periscope on Tues, Thurs and Sun. All you need is a second input device and access to the interwebs. My Periscope handle is @TeaWeaselStopMO, which also happens to be my twitter handle if you wanna contact me there.
My Tips Button: Currently I am using Cash.me, which is a free service provided by Square. As long as I do not process more than $900 a month there it is free. If I ever get more than that I will have to figure something else out, but this way I don't have to spend a long time filling out forms, and you don't have to get an account somewhere. The way it works is you click the button, then it takes you to my cash.me page. You put in your card number, the amount and your email address. They then send you a code to your email. If you do not enter that code, your payment won't go through. You can learn more about them at HERE.
The real me. One day I will get some kind of professional picture taking thing done.

Recently (like, last week) I graduated from community college (woo) with a degree in computer systems administration. This has freaked me out in a big way. Now what am I going to do? It isn't like people are clammering to hire the n00b. So while I am looking for a job, I plan to spend a bit of my day every day on creative pursuits.
I get a lot of ideas. All the time. I love to create, but I love so many things that everything gets put in bits and pieces all over the place. This blog is meant to help me get my shit together. I plan to talk about what I am working on, what I plan to work on, how I plan to do it, and possibly the results. Some of my interests include stop motion animation, digital photography, spinning wool, crocheting, writing, music, and really learning anything that crosses my path that seems interesting.
Seriously, I don't expect anyone to read this. It is mostly for me. But if you are reading this then I guess you have somehow stumbled on it while surfing the intertubes. Welcome to my blog thingy. You are welcome to stay, read, and comment. Hopefully as I get more into this there will be more interesting things to read here.
If you feel the uncontrollable urge to share something from this blog, PLEASE just give me credit. All pictures, videos, mp3s and projects here are my own (unless otherwise stated). I generally use the Creative Commons attribution copyright, unless otherwise stated.
If you see something here that is yours and it is not suitably attributed, please send me a message and let me know. I will be more than happy to fix it.
Welcome to my geekery! :)
