And they all went tumbling down....

Again I have missed blogging here. This time for nearly 6 months. I have been workling stuffs, but I haven't had time or energy to blog about it. I love my new job. It is awesome. My coworkers are awesome. My workload, while challenging, isn't so difficult that I am constantly frustrated. I get paid enough to live on. I am getting ready to move here soon to my own place, where I will be able to have room to stop mo and stuff. Once I get moved and settled, the plan is sto start looking for good used camera equipment. Yeah, I have now partially fried my iPad, so using it for animating is no longer an option. Well, it may be, but Wednesday morning I woke up at 3am to the smell of melting plastic and little tiny flames coming from the cable connector. Took it in to the Mac store and was told the transformer (the part that plugs into the wall) is bad and shorting out the cable and causing serious issues with the battery. Apparently I need to send it away to be replaced. So I invested in a new transformer and cable, and when I can brear to part with it for 7 days I will send it in. For now, though, I don't want to cause more issues by using it for stop mo.

Which actually is fine. I have a ton of other things going on. I am working on learning songs for Orycon concert with Those Pesky Kids. I am going to do a solo house concert in October. It has been fun. I invested in a cheap (really, really cheap) keytar. Silly me, I thought it would be straight forward and I would just have to learn where to find the sounds i wanted. Wrong. The one I bought is an Alesis Vortex. I named her Mrs. Nesbitt, cause I thought it was funny at the time. Mrs. Nesbitt is actually just a midi controller, not a full, synthesizer. Here is a pic of her:

Isn't she pretty? I would have preffered a black one, but the black one was wireless and $200 more. And still just a controller. But I have to plug her into the computer and open an sythensizing program to get the music out. I am still working it out. See, I knew nothing about synthesizers when I decided I wanted one. I did not realize how much there is to it. I can't just plug it in and play and have it work. I finally last night gav in a paid for an interface that was made to work with Mrs. Nesbitt specifically. Amazing how much better it works. So once they will let me activate the software so I can do more than demo mode, I will see if I can get her to do We Didn't Start the Fire, Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Doctor After Midnight) and Evil Pie (Talking Heads Swamp).

I also have been experimenting with materials again. A coworker of mine uses a type of epoxy putty to build out his miniatures. It doesn't stink, it takes longer to harden so you can actually sculpt it, and it dries so hard little tiny pieces don't break off. So I bought some at Funagain Games here in Eugene to experiment with. Wednesday nights a friend does a crafting night at her house, so I plan to take it with me and we will see how it works making dragon eggs.

So what I should be doing is mocking up a website for a guy so I can show him my basic design changes later today. I suppose I should get back to it if it is going to get done in time. Procrastination, thy name is Eleanor. :P
