So today I went to walk to Safeway and back, to get myself out and a bit of exercise. I noticed a lady come out of the woods with 2 dogs, so I decided to investigate. It led to a gorgeous trail that ran along a creek. Most of the going was steep. Way steepr than I should have gone, probably. But it was so pretty I had to do at least a little hiking on it. My joints hurt. And I am cold and covered in mud. But honestly...it has been a while since I have been able to get out into nature, and it was divine. The Pacific Northwest is so pretty. I took a few bad phone pics along the way. Here are the ones worth posting. None of them were great. I have decided I need to go back with my Canon and photog. Maybe not this week, but soon. Yesterday I went with some friends to the Grotto, which they told me after I got there is a Catholic nature walk, sort of. It is a garden with a lot of Catholic statues and images strewn around. I took some pics. I will post those when I have edited them. Not many of them are good. All mushy or blurry. It was so dark, even at 3pm. I am still trying to practice getting less noise and mush, and the settings are...well, lets just say if you are not completely steady you get motion blur. And I decided not to bring my tripod in cause it felt too conspicuous. I don't feel comfortable taking pictures of Catholic iconography. It is a peaceful place, but not really a photo friendly place. There was a labyrinth in the middle of it. Was kind of nice. So here are a couple of pics that worked. I'll post more later if I can. I am not Catholic. Nor will I ever be. I am not even Christian. It felt wierd. I don't know.

So...Orycon is over. I did my concert. I got so nervous there were issues from time to time. But it was ok. I Periscoped it. The angle is bad. And I am reminded how much I need to go out and lose weight. But on the whole it was ok. It is still up on Periscope. For now. Untill I get horrified and take it down. If you wanna listen you can see it HERE.
What I need to do is perform more often. And somewhere other than the basement. I need to find places to perform and actually go out and do that. It is difficult without transportation. I live far away from everything, and getting to the bus stop is hit and miss with my joints. But I love performing. And I miss it. And I want to do music with other people. This weekend was a hard one for me, so I decided to go out and do some photogging. I got some good pictures. You know, I used to think the words to that song were "If a picture paints a thousand words, then why can't I paint hues?" Ah, mondegreens. :)
Anyway, here are a few of the better ones. All 81 of them are up on my Flickr page HERE. So...this week I am waxing nostalgic. From 2005 - 2011 I did a podcast called the Pacific Northwest Celtic Music Podcast. It was a blast! I met some awesome Celtic musicians. I learned a lot about podcasting and the music business. The whole point of it was to get music out to people who wouldn't normally hear it. The requirement for being on the podcast was that you had to be unsigned and not in the national public conscious.
I miss podcasting. It was so fun. It is also a ton of work. And when you don't have a lot of time or money, it is hard to keep going. In my case, someone bought my domain name out from under me and held it ransom. I did not have the time or the money to deal with it, nor did I have money to purchase a new domain name. So it ended up just fading away. If you want to hear an episode, I posted one on my MUSIC PAGE. I may try to figure it out again. I would want another person to work with though. That is the hard part. Anyways, enjoy my trip down memory lane. |
