Here is a pic of the possible new set. Yes it looks like the old one. Deciding if I want to change the carpet or leave it.
Wow, am I a nerd. :P
Still working on sets. Deciding on final designs and making props. And getting a little distracted my Goggle+. :) Here is a pic of the possible new set. Yes it looks like the old one. Deciding if I want to change the carpet or leave it. I think I will find something else to use as a floor covering. I like the bright red felt for wallpaper. I just need to figure out how to get rid of the puffs in the left corner. I might bring the picture down a smidge too, The first pic I took it was right on top of the couch, which was way too low. I think I will leave out the ubiquitous coffee table too. This is just for scene one, where the Tardis enters sans the Doctor and the two take off in it. Originally I had one take off, come back with triceretops, which chased them around the room, then they left the triceretops in the living room destroying the room while they escaped in the Tardis. I think this is a bad idea now. As amusing as it is to me, it really isn't a good idea. when they got back they wouldn't have a house left and the dinosaurs would have escaped down the street. Then there is the problem of getting rid of the triceretops. So that one has been nixed. But I still plan to have them take off in the Tardis, meet a zombie, meet a T-rex, get lost in space, then go home. Or something to that effect. I wish I had a Doctor figurine. I could have them chastised by the Doctor for taking off with the Tardis. However, I don't have one, and as I am shit at sculpting one and have no money for one that idea is out. The idea is the Tardis from time to time wants a vacation from her Thief, and takes off looking for interesting adventure. I may make several different videos involving the Tardis' adventures without the Doctor.
Wow, am I a nerd. :P

Now home from housesitting, all scheduled interviews done, now I can get back to work. Well, more likely tomorrow. The plan is to build sets tomorrow and finish planning all the scenes for One Tiny Thing. I think I can get a good finished product if I just get in some more practice. I am obsessed with getting stop motion to work for me now. I really want to get a good finished video. And the only way to do that is to do it over and over again till I get it. I can feel myself getting better with each project I do, which is encouraging. My ideas are getting more solid and I understand timing better each time I do it. Now that I have mostly figured out After Effects I can finish more. Get more out there.
I think the tank top will not get done. I may pick it up here and there, but everytime I do I feel like I should be doing stop mo. This is usually the way my creative process works. I get an idea into my head and I obsess over it and obsess over it and it won't go away till I spend most of my waking hours working on it. Kind of like the manic phase of bipolar. Not as bad as Charlie Sheen.....but still, obsessive. It is like the idea sprouts it's own legs and it's own brain, and it won't run away until I have created a body for it to leap into. I know that sounds crazy. But that is kind of the way it works for me. SO I have missed a few days. I am housesitting at a place that has crappy internet. I also have been brushing up on my firewalls skills for my tech interview today. And I also have an interview for Planned Parenthood. So creative pursuits have been paused for a bit. I also got a call from the temp agency for a reception position. So I may have a paycheck soon. Which is always a prio
Just got a call from Symantec. I have a tech interview on Monday. yeay! This is actually the 5th tech interview I have had with them. Maybe 5th time's a charm. :) So this weekend I will be reviewing firewalls and security stuffs. Yeay! I think this is a group I have already interviewed with. That's ok. I am just glad they called.
Which means that my One Tiny video will be pushed back a little. I will still work on planning it, but I won't really do anything substantial until the interview is over. I have been looking at it, and as it is a music video and it doesn't really follow the lyrics I don't think it is as essential that I have the timing and frames exactly worked out. Maybe some things, but not everything. 11 votes. that's it. Apparently no one cares. Oh well. It is done and out there, and that is what maters, right?
I decided to get a little more proactive with my job search. I applied with United Way to volunteer with Planned Parenthood to work with their databases. The description said no experience necessary, and willing to train. Which means my current experience will count for something, and I will get better experience with databases I can put on my resume. I haven't heard back from them yet, but sounds awesome. And Planned Parenthood is an organization I can get behind. I have a feeling a criminal background check will be required. Which I can pass. :P I also called the temp agencies and got the annoyed sounding "don't call us, we'll call you" response. whatever. I am 2 hours away from grabbing a Taco Bell application. So today - plan is to grab my stuff and head up to house/pet sit, then start working out One Tiny Thing. I am starting over with it, knowing now what I didn't know then. It's crap, but it is done. I wish the rendering had gone better. It is really choppy. But the more I played with it the worse it got, so I just rendered it ans submitted it as is. I will play with it more and see if I can get it less choppy, but now you can go vote for it at Eddie Izzard's Youtube Channel. Whew. that was quite the journey, and it was a great learning experience. Several things I learned:
#1. Go through audio in Audacity first, and get your audio bits placements down to the .25 of a second BEFORE shooting the pictures. #2. Have a more specific plan. Know how many frame you need, how many pictures it will take, and over plan. It is easier to take out then to add in later. #3. Make all pictures the same size. that way when you get them into Afer Effects you can resize them all at once and it doesn't look as jumpy cause they aren't all the same. #4. Watch the little things (like set peeling) while you are shooting. You can't fix everything in post, and it is a pain in the ass to do when you don't have professional grade equipment. #5. Don't skip sleep. that was a BAD idea. All last weekend I got maybe 6 hours of sleep. Last night about 6pm I crashed. And slept until 9:30 this morning. Probably contributed to some of the choppiness of the final product. It was a FUN project, and I plan on working more on the One Tiny Thing video this week. I so love doing this. Now I just need to find a way to get paid for it.... :) As I promised myself I would write something here everyday, I suppose I should take a long enough break to write something. It is the 4th of July weekend, Independence Day, and I have no friends or family to spend it with so I will have plenty of time to devote to this project. :) I worked until 3am last night, and got up at 7am this morning. I am getting close to done. This last part is a bit tricky, but I think I can manage it. Just might take a bit more time. I am still enthusiastic about this, which is good. I am excited for it to be done. Working at not getting impatient with it. And myself. I feel the need to clarify that though I have no family, my friends are spending time away from town, so are not available for interaction. I do have friends. Honestly. And other people can see them and talk to them. :P Ok, now I am just getting silly.
I must admit it is nice to get so enthusiastic about something again. I have been so stressed out about finding a job nothing has been fun. Even the fun stuff. Geekdom shall rule and nerdom shall run the world. :P I finally figured out how to get After Effects to do what I want. Whew. Now that I am on a roll, I am taking a short break then plan to work through the night till I am at least done with the pics I have now. I still have some to take, which will happen tomorrow, then I will finish the movie and put it up on You Tube for the voting. My goal is Monday. I am kind of getting excited now. Ok, I am REALLY getting excited now. This is so FUN! I wish I had the skills to match my ambitions. :P
And as I need to get back to work, I will leave you with one of the pics that amuses me: |
